A Description of the Municipal Sewage Purification Plants in the United States and Canada. By M. N. Baker, Associate Editor Engineering News. 4 x 7 ins., paper, pp. 196. Index, Table of Contents and 79 Illustrations. Engineering News Publishing Company, N. Y., 1893.

The articles from which this work has been made up were published during the past year in the issues of Engineering News. They have here been revised and classified according to the system of sewage purification adopted by the different cities. The classification embraces Intermittent Filtration. Broad Irrigation, Subsurface Disposal, Sedimentation, Mechanical Separation by Filtration, and Chemical Precipitation. Many subjects closely related to these are incidentally treated of, and many illustrations are given of the principal sewage plants in the United States.

A Table of Contents and a full Index add value to the volume which cannot fail to interest every engineer.
