Three manors. In Apletone (Appleton Roebuck), Fardan, Aluin and Tone had twelve carucates of land for geld. The land is to twelve ploughs. Two of Osbern's homagers have now seven villanes there with five ploughs, and the site of a mill, and twenty acres of meadow. Wood, pasturable, one leuga in length and half [a leuga] in breadth. The whole, two leugæ in length and one in breadth. T. R. E., it was worth four pounds; now, thirty-two shillings.

Five manors. In Coltone (Colton), Archil, Goduin and Goduin, Tor and Ulstan,1 had four carucates and a half for geld. The land is to four ploughs. Of this land, nine bovates are in the soke of Rodouuelle 8ia (Rothwell). Now, two of Osbern's homagers have there five bordars with one plough. Wood, pasturable, half a leuga in length and half [a leuga] in breadth. The whole, one leuga in length and half [a leuga] in breadth. T. R. E., it was worth forty shillings; now, twelve shillings.

In Torp (Pallethorpe, par. Bolton Percy) there are two bovates of land for geld. Osbern has [it], and it is waste.

Soke. In Ossetone (Oxton) there is soke [belonging to] Merstone (Marston) of four carucates of land for geld. The land is to two ploughs. Osbern has [it], and it is waste.

Two manors. In Cadretone (Catterton), five thanes 82 had two carucates of land for geld. Land to two ploughs. Fulk, Osbern's homager, has there four villanes and one bordar with two ploughs, and six acres of meadow. Wood, pasturable, one leuga in length and four quarenteens in breadth. The whole, one leuga in length and half [a leuga] in breadth. T. R. E., it was worth sixteen shillings; now, seventeen

shillings.

In Hornitone (Hernington), the same Osbern has one bovate of land for geld.

Three manors. In Torp (Thorp Arch), Orm, Goduin and Tor had three carucates of land for geld. The land is to three ploughs. Now, Osbern has there three ploughs, and six villanes and seven bordars with two ploughs. A priest [is] there, and a church, and the site of a mill. One leuga in length and half [a leuga] in breadth. T. R. E., it was worth four pounds; now, ten shillings less.

Six manors. in Waletone (Walton), six thanes had nine carucates of land for geld. The land is to nine ploughs. Osbern has one plough there, and one of his homagers one plough, and six villanes with two ploughs, and fourteen acres of meadow. One leuga in length and one in breadth. Brushwood there. T. R. E., it was worth four pounds; now, thirty shillings.

Three manors. In Biletone (Bilton), seven thanes had nine carucates of land for geld. The land is to nine ploughs. Now, Osbern has eight villanes there with four ploughs and two acres of meadow. Underwood, one leuga in length and three quarenteens in breadth. The whole,

Manor. In Mersetone (Marston), Eluuin had twenty-three carucates of land for geld. The land is to as many ploughs. Of these, eleven carucates are soke lying in 83 Tocvi (Tockwith) and Wilestorp (Wilstrop). Now, two of Osbern's homagers have there one plough and a half, and nine villanes with three ploughs. Wood, pasturable, two leugæ in length and one in breadth. The whole, two leugæ in length and two in breadth. T. R. E., it was worth six pounds; now, forty-two shillings and four pence.

Manor. In Wandeslage (Hutton Wandesley), Eluuin had six carucates of land for geld. The land is to six ploughs. Now, the same [Eluuin] has [it] of Osbern. He [has] one plough, and five villanes and two bordars with two ploughs, and seven acres of meadow. Wood, pasturable, four quarenteens in length and two in breadth. The whole, one leuga in length and half [a leuga] in breadth. was worth forty shillings; now, thirty-six shillings.

T. R. E., it Manor. In Popletone (Upper Poppleton), Ernuin $5 had three carucates and a half of land for geld. The land is to as many ploughs. Herm[en]frid, Osbern's homager, has there three villanes with one plough. T. R. E., it was worth twenty shillings; now, eight shillings.

In another Popletone (Nether Poppleton), Ode the deacon had two carucates and a half for geld. The land is to as many ploughs. This was the land of St. Elurilda.87 Osbern has one plough there, and two villanes with one plough. Wood, pasturable, one leuga in length and three quarenteens in breadth. T. R. E., it was worth forty shillings; now, twenty-eight shillings.

Two manors. In Ascam (Askham Richard), Eldred and Suartcol had six carucates 88 of land for geld. The land is to six ploughs. Osbern has there now one plough, and five villanes and two bordars with two ploughs, and seven acres of meadow. Wood, pasturable, four quarenteens in length and two in breadth. The whole, one leuga in length and half [a leuga] in breadth. T. R. E., it was worth four pounds; now, thirty shillings.

Manor. In Scarchetorp (Scagglethorpe), Ernuin had three carucates of land for geld. The land is to three ploughs. Erm[en] frid, Osbern's homager, has one villane and four bordars there, and three acres of meadow. Wood, pasturable, half a leuga in length and four acres (sic) in breadth. The whole, one leuga in length and half [a leuga] in breadth. T. R. E., it was worth ten shillings and eight pence;

now, six shillings.

Manor. In Hesdesai (Hessay), Ragenot had two carucates and two bovates of land for geld. The land is to as many ploughs. Eldred has

Hugh, Osbern's homager, has ten villanes there with four ploughs, and four acres of meadow, and half a fishery. Wood, pasturable, one leuga in length and three quarenteens in breadth. Two manors. In Hanbretone (Green Hammerton), three thanes had six carucates of land for geld. The land is to six ploughs. Osbern has [it], and it is waste.

Three manors. In another Hanbretone (Kirk Hammerton), Turchil, Gamel [and] Heltor had six carucates and a half of land for geld. The land is to six ploughs. John, Osbern's homager, has two ploughs there, and five villanes with one plough. A priest [is] there, and a church, and one mill of two shillings [annual value, and one fishery of three shillings [annual value]. The whole, half a leuga in
