(1) Margaret Gygge was married to Robert Brigg, at Methley, 11th November, 1567. In 1524 Richard Gygge was taxed 12d. for 20s. lands at Methley. Robert Gygge, of Methley, probably son of the latter, was buried there 5th February, 1563-4. Thomas Gygge was buried at Methley, 19th April, 1562, and Agnes, his widow, 31st January, 1564-5; he was probably a brother of Robert. Isabel Gygge married William Smyth, at Methley, 29th July, 1571. Robert Gygge was twice married, first to a daughter of Robert Labron, of Methley, by whom he probably had four children: Robert Gygge (buried 21st June, 1562), Alice Gygge, Anne Gygge, and Janet Gygge. By his second wife, Agnes, daughter of Robert Ward, of Methley, and widow of John Pearson, he had: Anne Gygge, baptized 13th September, 1560, and Janet Gygge, baptized 19th November, 1562, at Methley. Alice Gygge married Robert Shillito, 21st January, 1570-71, at Methley. Anne Gygge, married 13th September, 1560, Michael Scarre. Janet Gygge, married 5th August, 1577, Robert Nalson, of Methley, and was buried there 4th May, 16c4. There are no further traces of the Gygge family in the Methley Registers of later date. There is the following curious entry in the Methley Registers respecting the death of Robert Nalson: "1599. November. Mariorye, the wife of Willia' Hagger, buried the xxviijth day thereof. Rob't Nalsonn was buried the same day; the said Roberte did breake his faste the same day and was in good healthe, and came to the churche to ye buryinge of the foresaid Mariorye, and did helpe to ringe a peale at ye bells, and within one halfe houre after died, in the p'sence of all the people in ye churche, and was buried within foure houres afterwards,'
