ADDENDA.

February 1847.

Since this Work was published, the following important alterations and additions have been made in the navigation therein described, and which the mariner is requested to substitute for those directions heretofore given, in their respective places.

MORUP SHOAL, Cattegat.-By a notice, dated Elsineur, March 1st, 1846, it is stated, that in the new chart of the Cattegat, published this winter by the Admiralty, at Copenhagen, there is a shoal, with 7 feet water on it, W. by S. by compass, 2 miles (English) from the light on Morup Tange. (Page 11.)

LAPPEGRUND.- Copenhagen, April 25th, 1846.-On the north side of the Lappegrund, will be placed, from April 26th, in place of the sea-buoy which used to be moored there, a red-painted buoy, which, above water, appears in the shape of a cone, having on the pole a red-painted balloon. (Page 17.)

The GROUNDS.-Elsineur, March 1st, 1846.-Besides the marks already existing in the Grounds, the following marks will be added in the spring of this year.-a. On the east side.-Floating poles, painted white, with brooms turned downwards, viz.:one on the west side of the Middle Ground, in 20 feet water; and at the Saltholm Ground, in 4 fathoms water; and one before the Kraesboenk, in 4 fathoms.-b. On the west side. Floating poles, painted black, with brooms turned upward, viz.:-one before the Svaterumpen, in 4 fathoms; one before Sundbyhage, in 4 fathoms; and one before Stupperumpen, in 4 fathoms.-c. On the following shoals.-Floating poles, with balls, or round baskets of wicker-work, viz.:-one on the shoal part of the knoll, in 14 feet; one to the north-westward of the shoal part of the Ryggen, in 4 fathoms; and one on the shoal part of the Middle Putt, in 20 feet.

The older marks will undergo the following alterations, viz.:-the North buoy of the Middle Ground will be exchanged for a large buoy, painted red, and provided with a vane, instead of the former one, painted black, without a vane. On the Stubb there will be placed a buoy, painted black, instead of the former red one; and on the Taarbec Reef, on the wreck of the ship Neptune, there will be placed a small buoy, painted black, with a broom on a pole.

On the Broadground there will be placed a floating pole, with a balloon, or basket, instead of the broom formerly existing. (Page 19.)
