THE JUBILEE OF JUBILEES.

NOME time ago an article appeared in the RAINBOW, mentioning what was said by me on a former occasion-videlicet-That in November, 1866, a JUBILEE of JUBILEES would have expired since the Decree of Cyrus for the Restoration of the Jews. This is actually the case the period being exactly forty-nine times forty-nine years. It might, therefore, be expected that something remarkable would occur, in reference to the JEWS in or about November, 1866. At least, such a thing might have been imagined if not expected. November has arrived-and our expectations have in a great degree been fulfilled. There is a Jewish periodical called the Scattered Nation. It appears monthly; and in its November number there is a very full description of the efforts which are about to be made-first, for the rebuilding of the TEMPLE, and, secondly, for the restoration of the Jewish RITUAL. These efforts are to be made upon a very large scale, extending to all the principal cities of Europe, and including addresses to the Queen, to Parliament, the Pope, the Greek Patriarch, &c., &c., all for the rebuilding of the Temple, and the revival of the Jewish Rites. This announcement appears for the first time in November, 1866; and, moreover, it speaks of these efforts, NOT as things already in progress, but as things which are to date their commencement from this month of November, 1866. For it is evident that a prospectus is a commencement. It is at least worth while to take notice of this. The concurrence of the Jubilee of Jubilees with the first formal and avowed scheme for the rebuilding of the Temple, is a circumstance which might fix the attention of the most careless looker-on. Such a scheme is manifestly the beginning of the end, and though it is no more than a beginning, yet we all know, from the book of Ezra, that even the decree of Cyrus
