the Secretaries of the Conference of Delegates copies of any recommendations forwarded by the Presidents of Sections to the Committee of Recommendations bearing upon matters in which the co-operation of Corresponding Societies is desired; and the Secretaries of the Conference of Delegates shall invite the authors of these recommendations to attend the meetings of the Conference and give verbal explanations of their objects and of the precise way in which they would desire to have them carried into effect. 11. It will be the duty of the Delegates to make themselves familiar with the purport of the several recommendations brought before the Conference, in order that they and others who take part in the meetings may be able to bring those recommendations clearly and favourably before their respective Societies. The Conference may also discuss propositions bearing on the promotion of more systematic observation and plans of operation, and of greater uniformity in the mode of publishing results. Local Committees. Local Committees shall be formed by the Officers of the Association to assist in making arrangements for the Meetings. Local Committees shall have the power of adding to their numbers those Members of the Association whose assistance they may desire. Officers. A President, two or more Vice-Presidents, one or more Secretaries, and a Treasurer shall be annually appointed by the General Committee. Council. In the intervals of the Meetings, the affairs of the Association shall be managed by a Council appointed by the General Committee. The Council may also assemble for the despatch of business during the week of the Meeting. (1) The Council shall consist of1 1. The Trustees. 2. The past Presidents. 3. The President and Vice-Presidents for the time being. 4. The President and Vice-Presidents elect. 5. The past and present General Treasurers, General and Assistant General Secretaries. 6. The Local Treasurer and Secretaries for the ensuing Meeting. 7. Ordinary Members. (2) The Ordinary Members shall be elected annually from the General Committee. (3) There shall be not more than twenty-five Ordinary Members, of Passed by the General Committee at Belfast, 1874. whom not more than twenty shall have served on the Council, as Ordinary Members, in the previous year. (4) In order to carry out the foregoing rule, the following Ordinary Members of the outgoing Council shall at each annual election be ineligible for nomination:-1st, those who have served on the Council for the greatest number of consecutive years; and, 2nd, those who, being resident in or near London, have attended the fewest number of Meetings during the year -observing (as nearly as possible) the proportion of three by seniority to two by least attendance. (5) The Council shall submit to the General Committee in their Annual Report the names of the Members of the General Committee whom they recommend for election as Members of Council. (6) The Election shall take place at the same time as that of the Officers of the Association. Papers and Communications. The Author of any paper or communication shall be at liberty reserve his right of property therein. Accounts. The Accounts of the Association shall be audited annually, by Auditors appointed by the General Committee.
