Ordered, THAT the Committee have power to report their observations, together with the Minutes of Evidence taken before them, and Appendix, to The House. REPORT. THE SELECT COMMITTEE appointed "to consider and report upon the Restrictions imposed and Privileges conferred by LAW on BANKERS authorised to make and issue NOTES in England, Scotland, and Ireland respectively";-HAVE considered the matters to them referred, and have agreed to the following REPORT: YOUR Committee have examined a considerable number of witnesses, and have agreed to report the Minutes of Evidence to the House; but they have not had time to prepare a Report thereon in the present Session, and they consequently recommend their re-appointment next year. 22 July 1875. Mr. James Fitzjames Stephen, Q.C., was examined. Mr. William Simpson Fleming, was further examined. Sir Henry Thring, C.B., was examined. The Committee deliberated. Ordered, That application be made to the Speaker that Copies of the Evidence be supplied to the Manager of the Bank of Scotland, the Governor of the Bank of Ireland, the Secretary of the Committee of Bankers, and the Governor of the Bank of England.
