And be it and it is hereby enacted and ordained by the authority aforefaid, That the faid Commiffioners, or fome of them, fhail within twenty Days after the publication of this Act, illue their warrant in their refpective districts, in the following form; viz. DOMINICA. Το By Commiffioners appointed for afcertaining the number of Slaves in this Inland, &c. Conftables of the parish of You are hereby required and commanded, immediately on the receipt hereof, to fummon all and every the Proprietors, Renters, or Poffeffors of Slaves, in the pato appear before us at rish of Given under our hands and feals this day of in the year of our Lord one thousand feven hundred and ninety-nine. And be it and it is hereby enacted and ordained by the authority aforefaid, That if any Proprietor, Renter, or Poffeffor of Slave or Slaves, his, her, or their Manager or Attorney, fhall neglect or refuse, after having been duly fummoned as aforefaid, and proof thereof made upon oath by the Conftable, to appear before the faid Commiffioners, or fome or one of them, at the place and time by them appointed, and then and there to deliver in upon oath (which oath the faid Commiffioners, or either of them, are or is hereby authorized to adminifter) a full and correct account or enumeration of all his, her, or their Slaves, in the manner and form particularly directed by the faid fummons, foch Proprietor, Renter, or Poffeffor of Slave or Slaves, fhail be fined in the fum of fifty pounds, to be immediately levied by warrant or warrants, under the hands and feals of the faid Commiffioners or fome or one of them, directed to the Provolt arfhal, in the nature of an execution out of the Court of Common Pleas, which warrant or warrants the faid Provoit Marfhal thail and he is hereby dire &ted and required to execute in due manner, and to pay the faid fine into the public Treafury for the public ufes of the colony. And be it and it is hereby enacted and ordained by the authority aforelaid, That the faid Commiffioners, in taking the faid account or enumeration, and in making their Return, fhail make ufe of the following form: Number of Proprietors. NUMBER of SLAVES in the Parish of conformity to the Act for afcertaining the Number of Slaves, &c. And be it and it is hereby enacted and ordained by the authority aforefaid, Claufe 5. That one hundred and twenty copies of the above form fhall be printed with all fpeed, and diftributed among the Commiffioners before named by the Clerk of the Affembly; and that the faid Commiffioners fhall, and they are hereby required and directed, within twenty days from the time of iffuing their faid warrant, to complete the faid lift or enumeration of Slaves, and return the fame, together with a duplicate thereof duly certified under their hands, into the Treafurer's Office of this Illand; and the Treafurer is hereby required, as foon as fuch Returns are completed, to deliver the fame, or the duplicates thereof, to the Commander in Chief, to be by him tranfmitted to His Majefty's Minifters. And taken in Claufe 6. Claufe 7, And be it and it is hereby enacted and ordained by the authority aforesaid, That the Constables, for the duties enjoined them by this Act, fhall be paid in the fame manner as Constables are directed to be paid for fummoning the Inhabitants under the Way-warden Act of this 10and. And be it and it hereby enacted and ordained by the authority aforefaid, That this Act, together with the form of the Returns prefcribed, and the Commiffioners warrants, thall be printed at the public expence of the Colony, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay for the fame.
