I HAVE received His Majefty's Commands to tranfmit to your Lordship the enclofed Refolution* of the Houfe of Commons of the 6th of April laft, refpecting See p. 11. A. the Negroes in His Majefty's Plantations in the Weft Indies; and to fignify to you His Royal pleasure, that you fhould take the earliest Opportunity of communicating it to the Council and Affembly of the island of to whofe particular attention and confideration you will recommend the formation of fuch a system of meafures as may appear to them best fuited to the attainment of the several important cbjects which are specified in the Refolution. Your Lordship will not fail to transmit to me, from time to time, accounts of the proceedings of the Legislature of your Iland, in confequence of this communication; and I defire you will take care, in your firft Difpatches, to inform me whether any measures have been already taken by the Legislature of the Ifland, which may tend to promote the purpofes expreffed by the Refolution of the Houfe of Commons; and you will alfo be attentive, at all times, to avail yourself of every opportunity of cultivating and improving the difpofition you obferve in the Planters and Inhabitants to promote the humane and benevolent views which the Legislature of this Kingdom has fo eminently manifested in the Refolution which is herewith tranfmitted to you.
