SPECIAL REPORT.

THE SELECT COMMITTEE to whom the PUBLIC WORKS LOANS ACTS AMENDMENT BILL and the PUBLIC WORKS LOANS ACTS CONSOLIDATION BILLS consolidated into the PUBLIC WORKS LOANS BILL, were referred ;-HAVE agreed to the following SPECIAL REPORT:

YOUR Committee have gone through the Consolidated Bill, and have made Amendments therein.

They are of opinion that the Commissioners for Public Works Loans should be nominated in the Bill, but they deem it right to leave it to your Honourable House to insert the names.

They desire further to report, that having taken evidence as to the system under which loans have been made by the existing Public Works Loan Commission to local authorities, they are satisfied that the public are greatly indebted to those gentlemen, and especially to their chairman, for the care they have exercised in the administration of the public moneys which have been placed at their disposal.

REPORT.

THE SELECT COMMITTEE to whom the PUBLIC WORKS LOANS ACTS AMENDMENT BILL and the PUBLIC WORKS LOANS ACTS CONSOLIDATION BILL, consolidated into the PUBLIC WORKS LOANS BILL, were referred, have considered the said Bills, and taken evidence thereon, which they have agreed to report to the House, and have, pursuant to the Instruction of the House, consolidated the two Bills into one Bill," to consolidate with Amendments the Acts relating to Loans for Public Works:" and have gone through the said Consolidated Bill, and made Amendments thereunto.

The Committee considered the Public Works Loan Acts Amendment Bill and the Public Works Loan Acts Consolidation Bill.

Mr. Henry Jenkins, Mr. Henry Hickman Barnes, and Mr. William Williamson Willink, were examined.

The Right Hon. John Gellibrand Hubbard (a Member of the House) was examined.
