The manuscript was formerly in the French Library of St. Genevieve, and was purchased by Harley, Lord Oxford, in 1724, now forming part of the Harleian Collection in the British Museum. In the Bibliothèque Nationale of Paris there is now a MS. of very similar character which is assigned to the ninth century, and it is possible that the British Museum MS. may be of the same period, though there are many indications of its being the work of the preceding century.
