In the North and East Ridings of Yorkshire.

The names of the respective Towns are on the top and side, and the square where both meet gives the distance.

The North Riding is bounded on
the north by Durham, and on the
north-east by the German Sea, on
the south-east by the East Riding,
on the south west by the West Ri-
ding, and the ainsty or liberty of
the city of York, and on the west
by Westmoreland.

The East Riding is bounded on
the north west and north by the
North Riding, on the north east
and east by the German Sea, on
the south by the river Humber, &
on the west by the West Riding.

The North Riding extends
83 miles from east to west,
and contains 1,311,187 acres,
of which 442,565 are uncul-
tivated.

The East Riding compre-
hends the whole south-east
portion of the county, having
a sea coast, extending 150
miles from the Humber to
the North Riding. Its length
on a medium extends 40 and
its breadth 32 miles. It con-
tains 819.200 acres.
